Women’s Division One Top Four Cup Final – Busselton Vs Geographe Bay

The Busselton Red Back Division One women have won the President’s Top Four Cup Competition by defeating Geographe Bay 3 – 0.

All goals were scored in the first half.  Busselton started the game on the front foot and their strong team work which has been a feature this season, was again on display with a high level of intensity making for some good football.  Captain Ariana Longmore kicked the first goal, backed up with some hard running to give her side every possible scoring opportunity.   Mon Johnson kicked some well weighted corner kicks and a delighted Anita Parsons was on the end of one such kick and found the back of the net to register Busselton’s second.

The Seasiders started the game with a defensive strategy in mind, but now reverted back to a more traditional form of attack and nearly found a way home if not for a well timed save from goalkeeper Tracey Hewlett.  Stacey Rouse meanwhile wrapped up the goals for the Red Backs at the other end of the park.

Midfielder Chelsea Homer was awarded the best on ground and all players, including Coach Jason Blackney were elated with the win and the outcome for season 2011.  All that remains now is next week’s South West Cup match against the Bunbury Dynamos.
